I wish I were a twin like you and Tex, said Lily. Then I’d always have someone to play with.
I guess I am pretty lucky, said Indi. But can I tell you a secret?
Sure. said Lily.
Well, whispered Indi, sometimes I wish I weren’t a twin so I could have my very own birthday party.
Lily thought for a minute, then whispered back. Why don’t you just tell your parents that?
What if they don’t like it? said Indi. And what if it makes Tex feel sad?
But what if Tex loves your idea? said Lily. I think you should be brave and ask.
Indi wasn’t so sure, but she talked to her family at dinner.
Yay! said Tex. Two parties equals two times the fun!
I’m glad you told us how you’re feeling. said Dad.
Me too, said Mom. I’d be fine with two small parties instead of one big one.
Tex had a safari adventure party one weekend, and Indi had an under-the-sea costume party the next.
Hey, Lily, said Indi. Thanks for being such a great friend!
Eeeep, eep! Lily giggled as she squeaked. Don’t you mean thanks for being such a great dolphin?
